SEWER PIPE REHABILITATION
|
| Typical low profile slip-lining joint
|
Many large and small cities facing old, deteriorating and corroding gravity sewer networks constructed typically from reinforced concrete pipe that leak huge amounts of raw sewage into the ground. Outright replacement of these old sewer lines with new lines may prove difficult within the bustling city limits of the average US metropolis. Slip lining a special FRP sewer line is the right answer in many for many cities and counties. Future Pipe has developed a wide range of gravity sewer FRP pipe with a low profit socketed joint for slip lining into old corroded sewer pipe. The thin wall of fiberglass pipe means that typically around 90% of the original pipe cross sectional area is maintained after the new fiberglass pipe is installed and grouted in place.
PRESSURE PIPE REHABILITATION
|
| Typical flush slip-lining joint
|
Future pipe can also supply pressure pipe with low profit bell and spigot or coupling joints to slip-line corroded steel, Pre-stressed concrete or Cast iron pipe. While a small reduction in flow is inevitable, slip-lining provides an economical way to extend the life of aging water mains and sewer force mains within congested city streets.
Allowable grouting pressure
The maximum safe grouting pressure for low profile slip lining gravity or pressure pipe is:
- For SN 18 psi pipe : 4psig
- For SN 36 psi pipe : 8psig
- For SN 46 psi pipe : 10psig
- For SN 72 psi pipe : 15psig
Note: Allowable grouting pressures for Slip-lining pipe with Flush joints is lower and varies according to diameter and pipe stiffness at the spigot end. Consult FPI.
